We've previously featured various of Loke's other Battle Mats, including the Wilderness, Towns & Taverns, and the Big Book of Battle Mats. The Terrain Set is the latest Big Book format set of Battle Mats, ideal for setting up role-playing game (RPG) adventures or adding atmosphere to any game involving figures. We've shown the Terrain Set mats here with some of figures from the recently released Marvel Heroclix Collector' Trove (WizKids).
As with Loke's other books of battle mats, The Terrain Set comprises two ring-bound books of printed maps. You can mix and match them but you'll mostly be opening the books up on similar pages to create a 24" x 24" play area (two double-page spreads). The ring binder ensures that the maps lay flat, and they are suitable for use with wet- and dry-erase pens.
Those already familiar with Loke battle mats will note that the maps in this Terrain Set edition have fewer printed details on them than was the norm with previous mats. That's because the Terrain Set has been designed with an eye to customisation. The books include pages of reusable vinyl scenery that adhere to the maps without actually sticking to them. Tho' the scenery affixes securely, so that you can leave in situ between games, it can still be readily peeled off and placed back on its mounting sheet for use on another occasion, including of course on another map.
We're looking forward to using the Terrain Set in our ongoing Dungeons & Dragons RPG campaign but we'll also be pressing it into service as the setting for our next Heroclix clobbering time.
