Heroclix: Spider-Verse

It's always exciting to take delivery of a new 'brick' of WizKids' Heroclix Booster Packs, and not just because you never know exactly what Heroclix figures you're going to get until you break open a box. Spider-Verse may be the best Marvel set we've seen so far.

As the title suggests, the theme for the Spider-Verse set are the multiverse incarnations of Spider-Man and his various friends and foes. Among the many Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super-Rare and Chase figures are a score of incarnations of Spidey himself, including Spider-Cat and Spider-Ham, and various versions of super-villains and minions. They are among the best sculpts we've seen and there's ample novelty too in the powers and stats on all the dials.

Each pack contains five pre-painted Heroclix figures plus the accompanying cards that give you background info, flavour text and an explanation of powers, along with a grid showing an exploded version of the dial. We've been pleasantly surprised too at how few duplicates we ended up with after opening up the 12 Booster Packs in our brick.

Shown here on Board's Eye View are just some of the figures from the Spider-Verse set, and you can see them lined up on an appropriately spider-themed spread from Loke Battle Mats' Cells & Shrines Big Book of Battle Mats.
