Already partway through its Kickstarter run, Critter Rasslin is a light combat card game from Route 60 Man. It's essentially a two-player tussle but with the option to play with four as a 2 vs 2 tag-team game. The game represents a wrestling match between a 'heroic' racoon and a 'loathsome' possum (ie: good vs bad), with each using their own asymmetric decks and with the possum benefitting from a hand size of six cards to the racoon's five.
Players take turns to play wrestling move attack cards on each other, including moves that may block or redirect an opponent's attack, and the game is won by the first player to rack up 21 points against their opponent and finish off with a Pin card. Alternatively, you can win without a Pin card if you score 30 points against your opponent.
Critter Rasslin is an unashamedly 'take that' card game. There are some hand management decisions to take over when best to play particular cards - for example, when best to use your block, reverse move and double-attack cards - but this isn't a game where anyone is likely to mither overly about their card play: you'll be playing this as a fast, fun game that takes no more than 10 minutes from start to smackdown.
Because Critter Rasslin is tongue-in-cheek, players can enjoy it even if they would ordinarily steer clear of duelling games. And it's a game that encourages trash talk between the combatants as they try to take each other down - and that's doubly apt because the premise of the game is that the racoon and possum are fighting for control of the dumpster outside a new Chinese restaurant.
