Published by Gift Republic, Brains vs Brawn could be just what you need to bring your Christmas party to life. It's a super-simple party game where the players (pretty much any number, but ideally 6-8) compete to be last player standing following a series of 'brains vs brawns' challenges.
The game comprises a deck of 60 'brain' and 60 'brawn' cards plus a panoply of paraphenalia, including chopsticks, plastic cups, balloons, ping pong balls, string, elastic bands, paper straws, dice and a 30-second sand timer. Players each take five 'life tokens' to keep score and a player flips a token to determine whether they draw a 'brain' or a 'brawn' challenge card. Successfully meet the challenge on the card and you keep your token; fail and you lose it. Meanwhile other players gamble a token on whether they think the player will succeed or fail.
The 'brain' cards are mostly general knowledge/trivia questions interspersed with a few riddles and the occasional mathematical puzzle, tho' we noticed at least one question where the information on the card was wrong (Denver is not a US state!). The 'brawn' challenges are mostly dexterity tasks using various of the components in the box, often against the 30-second sand timer, but a couple require the 'brawn' of being able to skip or do push-ups. In any event, it's all good clean fun and makes for a quintessential party game. And unlike many of the games marketed as 'party games', Brains vs Brawn has no content that's likely to cause consternation among HR personnel: this is a game that's completely safe for work.
