AdVenture Capitalist

Updated: Oct 24, 2020

Are you an adventure capitalist mogul? Are your companies running themselves now? Do you find yourself idle? Then do OOMM have the game for you! Take some down time from your investments with AdVenture Capitalist: The Card Game.

This is a small box card drafting set collection game for 2-5 players. It's a spin-off from the mobile phone game of the same name and, as a card game, it has obvious similarities to point-scoring set collection games like Sushi Go! (Gamewright). Like Sushi Go!, players will be picking a card from the hand they've been dealt and then they'll pass the hand on to another player. Do you hold onto a card that you know will definitely score you a couple of billion dollars or do you push your luck and take a card that will score even bigger bucks but only if you are able to pair it up with one or more matching cards?

AdVenture Capitalist has you choosing from drafts of potential companies over three rounds to make the biggest profit. But it’s not all work and no play: all that wealth would get you down if it didn't earn you a few perks, so keep your eyes open for cards with luxury items included. The bigger your collection of fancy cars, yachts and private helicopters, the more envious your competitors will be. More important, in terms of the game, is the player with the most of each of the luxuries will garner a $3 billion bonus. And each round you are given a manager to earn you even bigger rewards, provided you collect enough of the cards that are that manager's speciality. Essentially the managers are hidden objectives. Expect to hear complaints from players tho' that some are 'overpowered' in comparison with others.

There are different routes to victory. You can try gathering lots of small companies or you can try to play the long game by investing in oil companies. Hockey teams score more the more you have, and they are a bit of one-way bet because even a single hockey team card nets you more than some other cards, so it's almost always a good idea to take a hockey card. In any event, you’ll be laughing all the way to the bank, provided, that is, you're also keeping an eye on what your rival AdVenture Capitalists are collecting.

And you can expect to get rich quick in AdVenture Capitalist: each game runs at a brisk filler-length 20 minutes!
